Troubleshooting
Common issues and how to fix them.
Can't connect to the server
- Make sure you're using the correct address from your dashboard. Java and Bedrock have different ports.
- Check that your username or gamertag is on the whitelist.
- Bedrock players: enter the IP and port in separate fields — don't paste the full address into one box.
- If your server was just deployed, give it a minute to finish starting up.
Kicked or disconnected
- "Not whitelisted" — your name isn't on the whitelist. Ask the server owner to add you from the dashboard.
- "Server closed" — the server may be restarting. Wait a minute and try again.
- "Connection timed out" — check your internet connection. If the problem continues, the server may be down for maintenance.
World upload failed
- Your world must be a
.zip file under 500 MB. - The zip must contain a
level.dat file. This is the main world file Minecraft uses. - Only Java Edition worlds are supported. Bedrock worlds need to be converted first.
Datapack not working
- Datapacks must be
.zip files under 50 MB containing a pack.mcmeta file. - Make sure the datapack is compatible with the server's Minecraft version.
- After uploading, restart your server from the dashboard for the datapack to take effect.
Server feels laggy
- Servers share hardware with other sessions. Performance can vary during peak load.
- Large or heavily modded worlds (via datapacks) can increase resource usage.
- If lag is severe and persistent, contact us.
Didn't receive an email
- Check your spam or junk folder.
- Emails are sent from Sessions via Resend. Some providers may filter them.
- If you still can't find it, contact us with your email address and we'll look into it.
